The Prairieaction Foundation (PAF) raises funds for community-based research into the causes and solutions to family violence and abuse. Action-oriented research is helping find effective ways to reduce the cycle of violence and keep individuals safe.
For example: Research led to the establishment of Canada’s first family violence court in Manitoba (and later across all three Prairie provinces). Research showed some women are afraid to leave an abusive relationship because of concern for the family pet, this led to partnerships between women’s shelters and humane societies. PAF brings together concerned citizens, businesses, governments, service agencies, universities and researchers to find solutions to the cycle of violence.  PAF supports three different research centres conducting research into the systemic causes of violence in Canada.
